The quintessential street of vintage design will take a turnaround this weekend to become home to a new Art & Design Market next weekend. A new creative space will be launched at Portobello Market, dedicated to nurturing young and established artists from London and beyond.

The market will run on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am – 5pm and at commence will present between 20-30 stalls showcasing art and design from a wide range of talent.

The Art & Design Market is curated by Keh Hui Ng. He has been working in London as an artist, designer and curator since 2005.  Having recently completed a Masters degree in Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins, Keh is now focusing on the launch and curation of Portobello Art & Design Market.

Portobello Art & Design Market has already attracted a great number of talented artists, particularly notable stallholders in residence for the inaugural market including designer Robert Cary Williams. Market Operator, Maurice Nixon explained during the presentation of this initiative how the market is already renowned for its vintage fashion and young designers and with this new area they hope to encourage new talent from the disciplines of art and design as well as aid the regeneration of the area beneath the Westway flyover. “We want to keep the market fresh and vibrant and encourage new visitors to the area”, summed up.

The new market will be situated at Acklam Square, under the Westway flyover on the junction between Portobello Road and Acklam Road.

The Spanish women’s footwear brand takes a new masculine angle on its cutting-edge designs. The Spanish brand uses classic shapes in keeping with the Menorcan tradition, but adapted to the 21st century, recovering the traditional values of a sector that has been disappearing from the island in recent years.

This first collection offers exclusive designs and a meticulous choice of first-rate materials, including Italian nappa leather, tweed and animal prints to add a touch of elegance and modernity to the comfort for which Mascaró is so well known.

With their latest venture, Mascaró have bet for classic designs like its ‘smoking’ and ‘classic’ lines, but also gone for more state-of-the-art and urban looks, as well as bolder options in the line known as party-night.

Mascaró is synonymous with quality and traditional craftsmanship, two concepts that have dominated its collections since it was created in 1908 on the Spanish island of Menorca.

The company has been capable of evolving, combining that age-old tradition and know-how with an ability to move with the times, but without forsaking the family character that has made the Menorcan brand a household name in Spanish footwear and a symbol of feminine sophistication and distinction.
