In a movement that finally shows how serious business is Fashion, Google is launching today its Boutiques.com

In its latest bid to expand further beyond the realms that it already rules, Google will be entering the business of fashion from Wednesday and like it has done in anything it has taken up, we expect it to revolutionize the fashion industry once and for all.

And who better to take the industry to those places than the Google vehicle? However, Google does not intend to sell clothes by itself via this supposedly boutiques.com but rather the website would be a platform showcasing material from established fashion retailers.

The fashion industry publication WWD reports Google is not itself planning to be a vendor; instead, its fashion-dedicated website will direct customers towards existing retailers such as Net-a-Porter and Asos, or designer’s sites. It has also asked mostly American designers such as Tory Burch, Oscar de la Renta and Marchesa to set up virtual shops within the site.

Celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker would be putting up their own shop on the website which would sell her designs. In addition, Google has invited other celebrities, including Tom Cruise’s wife Katie Holmes, to do the same.
