Walter Van Beirendonck is one of fashion’s true mavericks. Graduating from Belgium’s Royal Arts Academy in 1980, he was one of the illustrious ‘Antwerp Six’ – alongside Dries Van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester, Marina Yee and Dirk Van Saene (his partner of 30 years) – who together disseminated a radical new aesthetic and placed Antwerp firmly on the fashion map.

Now the Antwerp Fashion Museum (MoMu) is celebrating the 54-year-old designer’s three decades at the cutting edge with the first ever large-scale retrospective of his work, entitled ‘Dream the World Awake’.

After a thougher than ever Monday, I decided it was time to get pampered and to spoil my significant other with a couple of wardrobe treats from H&M. I took the chance to bring home their new Mag´s issue, and hereby recommend it, specially the East London guide article, plenty of cool suggestions by Susie Lau.

This has been the inspiration for Him, although I channeled into the urban renewed khakis, going for the eponymous colour for both the chinos and the military-esque shirt. The button down shirts give a preppy, well dressed impression – but can be styled to go with any look. Match with a t-shirt or jersey underneath, or add a scarf, for a more casual style.

For me, I got drawn by the accessories frenzy, falling in love with this elegant fake fur collar   and pairing it with a stunning pair of flared jeans for as little as 19.99 GBP! To complete the look, a fine knitted oversized jumper in utilitarian beige. Finnaly,

Finally, I sucumbed to this navy staple…can´t help it but love every single variation on Breton tees!!

The SPIRIT OF FASHION is touring the UK to celebrate three award-winning fashion designers, Carolyn Massey, Matthew Miller & Rachael Barrett, with their first stop being Seven Dials in time for Vogue’s Fashion Night Out. The collection, consisting of 12 exclusive garments, focuses around “Re-invented Classics”, which are all made in England with luxury fabrics. Especially for Vogue Fashion’s Night Out, shoppers can enter a prize draw to win a piece from the exclusive collection, quiz the designers themselves and sip cocktails while listening to the celebrity DJ, late into the night. SPIRIT OF FASHION pop-up is open from now until 18th September at 4 Monmouth Street, Seven Dials, WC1H 8JB.

Since it’s inception a couple of years ago, Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) has become a global multi-day event where retailers can drum up business and the savvy shopper can score a freebie or two. Now, Madrid has over 340 shops signed up to participate, scheduled for Wednesday, September 72011…and this is tomorrow darlings!!

Remember that you have to register to get your invite. Can do it from here.

The basic concept is that fashion brands and shops will stay open late into the evening (often until midnight or beyond) to allow shoppers time to peruse their displays and latest season’s collection.  Often, the shops will have music, free demonstrations or services and special discounts for FNO shoppers.  The perks vary based on the shop, but you can find out all the deals and plot out your approach based on the information Spanish Vogue has posted on their website.

For those who prefer to shop at home or who can’t make it to the events, check out the online deals also on offer.  And if you’re still travelling, check out the other offers worldwide.
