January 2012 sees the debut of fashion, beauty, travel, interiors and lifestyle title KNIGHTSBRIDGE Magazine.

With an initial print run of 10,000 copies, the monthly title will be sold in select retail outlets as well as hand delivered to almost every private home and apartment in Knightsbridge and immediate surrounding areas including Chelsea and Mayfair; it will also be available in the area’s luxury hotels.

The former NYC Fashion Week, known since two years ago as the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week officially commenced on February 10. But as usual, a celebrity runway for a new collection of Heart Truth took place on the evening before.

Featuring dozens of beautiful red dresses from different designers, the Heart Truth collection was founded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. The campaign aims to bring attention to the problem of heart disease in American women and counted on the presence of Dita Von Tese, who appeared with a Zac Posen number on the runway.

Nicholas K, the label managed by designer Nicholas Kunz and her brother and business partner Christopher Kunz, was again chosen to open the grand event. The pair went for a tender touch of country style and nature to the stage. As Nicholas put it herself, inspiration came from “the perfect cabin, surrounded by protected land with reservoirs, trails for hiking, forests for hunting, and streams for fishing,” according to an official press release. Nomadic and aboriginal elements made the rest of her collection, bringing into the spotlight Navajo people beads and fringes and Mongolian fur to create the feel of ancient life.

But it was Victoria Beckham the one who stole every look at the New York Sunday session. Being the latter her 5th season as a designer, and using a palette she described as “desert brights,” Beckham offered a teal matte gazar V-neck cocoon that she said was “young red carpet,” but the finale gown in the same colour and fabric was the one to talk about: It had chiffon-covered resin bits arranged in a mosaic pattern that looked like shards of shattered glass around the neckline.

For the first time, Beckham offered coats, including a red raglan-sleeve coat with a buckle at the collar and a super-chic black coat with knife pleats from hip to hem. Pleated dresses crowned the whole collection, being led by a saffron-yellow crepe number with a halter neck and the honeycomb gown, also with a halter-neck, that had restrained pleats at the top and fuller ones on the skirt. That look, she said, was her favourite.

Finally, we won´t miss the proposals from Alexander Wang…enjoy it!

The Spanish brand launches its Snow Collection with ballet flats and warm ankle boots.

Winter sports fans are in for a treat. Pretty Ballerinas, Mascaró’s ballet flat brand, is making its own contribution to one of this season’s hottest trends. Inspired by après-ski, this is its warmest, most comfortable collection yet.

The new Snow Collection is presented as a complete range of ballet flats made in waterproof materials lined with lambskin, and includes stylish ankle boots designed on a ballet flat base.

Using python skin in different colours treated to keep water out and with a snug lining to keep warmth in, Pre-Sky Ballerinas come in two models: one with long fur and a special waxed leather and another shorter version for sunny days and thaw.

Pre-Sky Boots come up over the ankle for maximum protection against the cold and also come in two designs. Long white fur is perfect for the cold and the snow, while the short-fur zebra or leopard skin designs are just the ticket for when the sun comes out.

A favourite with celebrities, royalty and fashionistas all over the world, Pretty Ballerinas designs more than 1,200 models and produces a total of 300,000 pairs of footwear a year. With shops in New York, London, Montreal, Taipei, Madrid and Barcelona, the brand also has an exclusive POS network and an online shop, as a result of which Pretty Ballerinas accounts for 50% of Mascaró’s turnover

Ralph Lauren staged an 8 minute 4D projection at its Bond Street flagship. Witnesses were treated to spectacular effects with 50ft models, holographic polo players and even scented mist to complete the experience.

The show, billed as a 4-D extravaganza, breaking down the theatrical fourth wall with US fashion house’s new fragrance misted over the audience. Ralph Lauren’s son, David, who headed up the project, claimed that just 10 seconds of imagery took eight hours work in the studio, and was nothing short of Harry Potter special effects.

Once Ralph Lauren’s guests saw the first performance at 8.30pm, it was repeated continuously between 9pm and 10pm. However, it wasn’t just purely for so-called ‘merchainment’ but the multi-media event commemorated ten years since the company went online in the USA and celebrates the first day of its UK online venture.

If you are already a fan of the quintessential British house, then you’d love their new Make Up range!

Statement-making fabrics, like the Burberry gabardine, speak for themselves. That’s the philosophy behind Burberry Beauty. The autumn/winter 2010 collection, including powder, foundation, bronzer, blush, mascara, eye shadow and lipstick, is inspired by the season’s Burberry Prorsum and ad campaign (think military coats that strike a cool-girl balance between masculine and sex appeal), conveying a relaxed, unforced sophistication and attitude.

Look for new standout Lip Charm, a natural lipgloss (Burberry’s first) contained in a metallic gunmetal, check-engraved key chain, directly evocative of the house’s accessories collection. Clasp it to any handbag and achieve a warm, fresh glow from the single, perfect shade, Nude Beige No. 1, wherever you go.

Fashion giant Forever 21, the US equivalent to Topshop or New Look, is to open its first UK store in Birmingham’s Bull Ring on November 12.

In April it was revealed that Forever 21 would open its first store in the autumn, but the exact date of opening was not known as the company kept its exact locations under wraps. The fashion fashion chain is further planning to open in Westfield Stratford in London and in Dublin’s Jervis Centre. The retailer is looking for further London stores as well as shops in UK centres such as Manchester, and Glasgow, as well as European centres such as Paris, Milan, Munich, Amsterdam, Vienna, Madrid and Barcelona, reported Drapers.

Forever 21’s executive vice-president said: “Forever 21’s fast fashion concept perfectly suits the European consumer’s appetite for trend-led fast fashion at value prices.”
